Magic Butterfly.

The kids found a butterfly outside and were convinced that it must be magic because it wouldn't fly away. I'm convince that it must've been something other that magic. At any rate, they sure enjoyed holding it and taking their picture with it.

Daddy Daughter Derby!

Cambrie participated in her 1st Pinewood Derby as part of Activity Days. It was a Daddy Daughter Derby. They worked on the car together. Cambrie looked online to find the design she wanted, then Jason helped her with the cutting and sanding. Cambrie picked out the colors and painted it mostly on her own. I got the movie Down and Derby from the library to help get them in the spirit.
Cambrie even wanted to take car themed treats, so we made these banana cars with marshmallow wheels.
And here is the car. She won the award for "Luckiest Car."

Number 3!

The 3rd event for the year ended up being the Teton Dam Marathon 10K. I was hoping to do the marathon relay, but couldn't find 6 people willing to do it until it was already all full, so my friend Cathy and I ended up running the 10K.
Here we are before, even though we drove an hour to get there, I still look like I just woke up.
We waited after to watch our friend Lyndsey finish. She ran the whole 26.2 mile marathon. She did awesome!.
Afterwards. Not sure if I'll do this one again. There was way more uphill than I like, but we did get these cool medals.

Amazing!

On June 19th, 2010 we headed to the Spud Drive-In to support an amazing local woman. Her name is Lisa Smith-Batchen and she was finishing the last leg of her Running Hope Through America run. She ran 50 miles in each of the 50 states (yep, that's 2500 miles total) in just over 2 months. I thought it would be nice to go just to show support for such an incredible feat, but once we were there, I was really struck by the magnitude of what she was doing. It was unreal watching her finish. You could feel the emotion and power in the air. She is a true inspiration. She is truly selfless, and truly working so very hard to raise money for orphans across America.
You can join the group on facebook. They have a new motivational thought or quote nearly every day. If you want, make a donation - every dollar helps. The goal is $1 million, and I don't think she's reached that yet, but I know she will not stop until she does.

Of course, while you're at the Spud, you might as well stay for a Gladys Burger, Shake and movie. We watched Toy Story 3.

Pampered Girls.

We took the girls for pedicures today. We went to ROOTS a new salon in Victor, and I would HIGHLY recommend you have a pedicure there. The owners, Brittany and Peyton both do amazing jobs! I should know, I've already had 2 myself. Pure heaven. {787-ROOT}

A while back we tagged along with some friends to go see some cattle branding. The kids were lovin' every minute of it.

More Gardening!

With the 4th of July coming up, this Gardening Class was very patriotic. They planted petunias in rows of red, white and blue for the 4th of July garden. Then they made flower arrangements with cut flowers.

They had a parade with the flags over to the fish pond where they were able to feed the huge fish in the pond.

Gardening Class

We've been going to MD Nursery's Gardening Classes for kids this summer and the kids have absolutely loved it.

On this day they planted potatoes and onions.

Jake's favorite part of planting is always the watering.

Then they made pinecone bird feeders. First they smothered the pinecones with peanut butter.

Then they covered them with bird seed. We hung them on the trees in our yard, and they were picked completely clean.

The next project was to fill a container that they brought with them.

Jake brought this turtle container. It was the hit of the class. Here he is . . . tickling the roots like they taught him.

Cambrie and Tatum had mason jars, but spent most of their time painting them.

Jackson Hole with Nana . . .

We've been pretty good at using our Jar of Fun this summer. One of the things we pulled out this week was the SHOOTOUT in Jackson Hole. This worked out great since my Mom was here visiting and has never seen the SHOOTOUT.

We had dinner at the Silver Dollar Grill - This is a favorite of ours.

Then we headed over to the Square to watch the SHOOTOUT. Jake was surprisingly scared by the gunfire.

Happy, Happy Birthday Tatum!

Our little Tatum turned 6 last Friday. She LOVES balloons so I waited until she went to bed then decorated with balloons and streamers. She was so excited when she woke up.
