Hair Cut!

Not long after getting to California, my Mom was going to take Angelina and Yasmeen down to get their hair cut. While we were there, I thought we'd get Jake's cut too. I usually just cut his hair at home, so he's not used to having a stranger do it. He was pretty apprehensive at first, so he sat on my lap.

Still not quite sure what to think about the whole thing.

And now he's warming up. Even smiling.

Jake and the girls with their new hair cuts. Good Lookin.

Big Travellers.

July has been a busy month for our family, and we're finishing it off by heading to Cali to visit Nana & Poppy. The kids are professional travellers at this point. One man commented that Jake did a better job going through security that most adults he's seen attempt it.

Slimy Snails . . .

On our last day in Cali, I headed out for a morning run. It had just rained so there were snails everywhere. Once I got back to the house, I told the kids about the snails so we got some bug boxes Nana had and headed to the park to gather up some slimy creatures. The kids were in heaven. Who would've thought that snails were so exciting? We don't have any snails in Idaho, so that may be part of the excitement.

You can see that Tatum is in the wacky posing phase.

From the park we headed to the airport. The kids played with the snails the whole way to the airport. They left them for Nana to watch, but unfortunately they somehow 'got away'.

Getting Pampered.

The girls have come to learn that we always get pedicures in California. In fact, just the other day, Cambrie told me she needed to go back to California because her toes looked terrible.
Here they are in the pedi chairs.

family fun

We got to catch up with lots of family while we were in Cali.
Here are the kiddos with Great-Grandma. I love the bunny ears. As you can see, Tatum didn't want her picture taken.

The kids were able to spend lots of time with their cousins Angelina, Yasmeen & Robby.
Here they are the night of the cousin slumber party.
Trina and Ian were visiting from Minnesota so we were able to catch up with them too.
The kids were attacking poor Trina.
Here is Autumn with Angelina & Yasmeen.

Robby and Cambrie.
He loved being chauffered around in the jeep.
Hanging out in the twins room.

Enjoying their own personalized cupcakes.
All the kiddos.

SIX FLAGS

We went to Six Flags with the whole family and my kids had so much fun we ended up returning on another day.
Here are some pics from our fun days at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

feeding the birds

The kids definitely remembered feeding the birds at Six Flags. They chose to do this over riding any of the rides. Each person is given a little cup of nectar and once you enter the area with the birds, they flock to the nectar. It is unreal!

Jake was apprehensive at first, but really started to like the birds, until he was covered with them. . . then he began to have second thoughts.

just one bird = just right

the birds are coming and so are the worries

almost out of nectar - now he's definitely worried

Cambrie loved every second of it. I'm convinced she would make a great vet one day. I've never seen anyone that loves animals as much as she does.

Lucy, one of the birds really took a liking to Tater.

Dennis the Menace Park

We're always spoiled when we go to California because they have some of the best parks for the kids to play at. In Monterey we found the Dennis the Menace Park. It was huge with tons of unique and fun play things. It had a labyrinth made out of hedges and even a REAL steam engine.
Tatum and Jake going down the slide.
This roller slide was really neat.

Jake loved the train of course.
Can you see the kids on there. I needed a picture to show how huge it was, but I still didn't get it all..

More fun in Monterey . . .

As I keep doing posts of our trip to Cali, I can't believe we were able to squeeze so much fun into one trip. My kids absolutely LOVE staying in hotels. I really think we could just sleep in a hotel without doing anything else and they would be happy. Even Nana and Poppy seemed to enjoy being able to play with the luggage cart.

Here are Tatum and Jake poolside.

Another thing they LOVE . . . Cotton Candy!
