Once again we are working to help our local hospital with their current financial woes. This time it was Tatum's turn. Tuesday afternoon Tatum broke her arm. Of course for someone like Tatum, not just any old break would do. She happened to fracture the bone just above the elbow. The broken fragment then twisted and perforated her muscle. Nevertheless, Tatum remained (for the most part) her pleasant and crazy self. Jason took her to the doctor where we were informed that they wanted to keep her overnight so that she could go in for surgery first thing in the morning. Two hours of surgery and 3 pins later, she was done. She seems to be recovering amazingly quickly, which will make it somewhat difficult to keep her down. Today she felt the need to try out her roller skates in the playroom. Jason and I have decided that those are being put up . . . indefinitely! We've watched in amazement so many times as Tatum appeared to teeter (literally) on the edge of disaster, but I have a funny feeling, even something like this won't cause her to change her daredevil ways.
Here she is Tuesday night enjoying her last bites to eat and I dare say, LOVING all the attention.

There's nothing a little chocolate can't fix.
I had to take a picture of her tattoo.
{I noticed this on her the night before as we put pj's on. I'm sure it gave the surgeon a good laugh.}

Tater after surgery!

Ready to leave later that same day!

We truly do feel blessed that Tatum is doing so well. She really has had very little pain or discomfort. We are also so grateful to the many wonderful friends and family that have been thinking of and praying for her. Only time will tell, but her Orthopaedic Surgeon said that if the bone heals as expected, in a years time, you'd never be able to tell anything had happened. Now, we just hope we can make it until next Wednesday when she gets her hard, pink cast!
