De Ja Vu

Finally making up for lost time. Summer was great, but we were so busy enjoying ourselves, we lacked the time to chronicle our adventures. I wanted to try to get some of the happenings down so we can always remember them.

June 30th Tatum came in the house crying and saying she hurt her elbow. Apparently she was trying to jump on Cambrie's back for a piggy-back. Cambrie bent over, Tatum went over her head and landed on the concrete. She placed her hand out to catch herself, and what do you know, another fractured elbow. This time, the right arm! After x-rays and splinting we were allowed to go home, then return the following day for surgery. We stopped on the way home to buy fireworks and get a snowie (all at Tatum's request). After pulling into the driveway (she still hadn't had any pain meds yet), she jumps on her razor scooter and says, "Mom, is it ok if I ride?" Needless to say, I fear this will not be the last broken bone. On a side note, as of the last couple weeks, she now rides 2 razor scooters at a time, one for each foot.

Here she is getting ready to go in for the first surgery. Fortunately this time Dr. Brown only needed to place 2 pins.

The Cast ~ she chose green this time, and is getting very adept at using her left hand.

The 2nd surgery to remove the pins. Still a trooper, but was a titch green when she tried waking up.

When we showed up for her first therapy appointment, her therapist figured the original break hadn't healed properly. He was quite surprised when we explained to him that she had actually broken the other elbow~both arms in only 6 months.
